The Hiplife genre is one of Ghana’s most debated subjects when it comes to music and even it’s structure. Another hot button issue associated to the subject is the evolution of the Genre and who founded it.
Speaking about the genre and how far it has come, ace Ghanaian rapper and Hiplife artiste Obrafuor in an interview acknowledged that Reggie Rockstone started a revolution by coining the term Hiplife.
However, the ‘Pae mu ka’ hitmaker stated that Reggie Rockstone wasn’t the first to rap in Ghana.
“Reggie is a revolutionist, he brought some change. Before he came through there were the likes of Talking Drums, Mahony P and some people were already rapping so I won’t say he brought rap to Ghana.”
