It dominated the Academy Awards, the Met Gala, and every other event in between, making it possibly the biggest red-carpet trend of 2024. Celebrities like Elle Fanning, Kim Kardashian, Doja Cat, and Charlize Theron have all adopted the nude dress, which has become a common sight on the red carpet. We witnessed how nudity could be both risqué (like Charli XCX’s gauzy yellow Givenchy nipple-baring gown) and angelic (like Jennifer Lawerence’s sheer, Fall-Winter 1996 Givenchy empire-waist dress hand-embroidered with clovers) at last year’s Vanity Fair Oscars after party.
However, only one nude dress at the Grammys on Sunday attracted attention. Bianca Censori chose a different approach from the majority of guests, who chose muted colors and simple styling in honor of the victims of the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles.
Censori and her husband, Kanye West, who is now known as Ye, arrived at the event together. Given her risqué approach to public attire, the Australian model’s long feather coat may have seemed unusually modest, but that was only because she didn’t intend to wear it for very long.
Shortly after pausing for pictures, the 30-year-old lowered her coat and faced the cameras, revealing a barely-there, sleeveless minidress composed of transparent mesh that left no room for interpretation.
When the barely-there garment was shown, the couple immediately caused a stir on the red carpet when they arrived together at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Kanye, meanwhile, wore black clothing and black sunglasses.
West and Censori did not appear inside the venue after their red carpet appearance. According to an online report, the two were not formally invited to the event and were expelled. One person with knowledge of the Grammys, however, denied the rumor, claiming that West just “walked the carpet, got in his car, and left” and that it was “not true.”
